FAQ's - Features
Q: What is the expiry date for?
A: When do you think your prediction will be proven true or false? For example:

“Apple will announce a new iPod tomorrow”

By setting an expiry date your claim will be automatically brought to the top of the page once it expires, and it will be closed off from voting.
Q: Do I have to set an expiry date?
A: No. Sometimes an expiry date isn’t required, for example:

“One day aliens will visit the earth.”

In this instance, the date can be left open by leaving the expiry date box unchecked.
Q: Why is voting closed off?
A: Once a claim expires, it is closed off from voting as it makes no sense for someone to agree or disagree with a prediction that has already been proven true or false.
Q: How does the rating system work?
A: The ratings system is based on your Watched User List (WUL). Each person that adds you to their watched user list represents a star. If you have 10 people on your WUL, you have 10 stars. This rating system is a reflection of the respect and admiration of your fellow claimers.

Why aren’t you rated solely on the accuracy of your predictions? There are a number of reasons:

  • It’s difficult to measure the ‘boldness’ of a claim. For example, the sun will almost definitely rise tomorrow, so making a prediction about the sun rising tomorrow is hardly a claim worth recognizing.
  • Some claims are subjective. If you predicted that King Kong would be the greatest movie of all time, and it turned out to be true – this would be your opinion, which others might not share!
  • Insight might not only come from predictions, but from a user’s comments, discussion, and other contributions to the website as a whole.

At the end of the day, the best measure of the accuracy and boldness of your predictions will come from the respect that you have earned from your fellow claimers through a WUL.
